I love that we don’t have to go that far anymore to take an unforgettable vacation. Located about an hour north of Atlanta in Georgia’s gorgeous wine country, the new and prestigious Valhalla Resort Hotel has an elegant ambiance reminiscent of an Old World Scottish castle. Once you’ve reached the resort, quaintly nestled into the side of the mountain, you’re surrounded by breathtaking vistas as far as the eye can see. The grounds are a unique marriage of grand European architecture and luxurious, rustic-contemporary design that creates a one-of-a-kind experience for any kind of getaway.
I loved the warm hospitality, personalized service and attention to detail the staff delivered. It allowed me to fully experience the pure beauty and centered relaxation this regal retreat offers, all while knowing I was never too far from home.
The Guest Rooms
Summer’s sultry days make an afternoon indoors pretty tempting, and for Valhalla guests, the options are almost irresistible. A private balcony frames cool mountain views, and the cozy sitting area (fireplace, optional) was the perfect place to finish the book I couldn’t put down. The spa rainfall shower and luxurious bath creates your own kind of spa experience, and the dreamy, plush bedding invites every guest to enjoy the kind of sleep only vacation can provide.
The Solasta Spa
Speaking of spa days, Solasta (Gaelic for luminous) is designed to inspire guests to relax, invigorate and renew their body, soul and mind. Indulge in personalized treatments from massages and facials, and custom care for your hands and feet. Steps from the glistening, mountainside pool, you can continue your relaxation as long as your schedule (or your conscious) allows.
Dining
The variety of dining experiences throughout Valhalla Resort Hotel offers staycationers countless ways to enjoy contemporary, southern-inspired cuisine with a unique International twist, as well as hand-selected wines from the region and afar.
Enjoy breakfast, lunch and a casually elegant dinner at Caledonia, book a private, chef’s table dinner in The Abbey, the resort’s wine cellar dining room, order 24-hour room service or eat al fresco at the rooftop Sky Bar.
Executive Chef Dean Hill’s unique farm-to-fork concepts showcase fresh ingredients and produce from local co-ops in each creative, seasonal dish that hints at southern comfort food through its elevated flair.
Whether we were enjoying the gym, relaxing around the property, or indulging in a great meal, every minute was truly an experience that made for a memorable weekend with my mom and sister!
